Questions people ask about EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)
How many sessions do I need?
This is individual, largely depending on the nature of the problem.
Many times, EFT creates a ‘one-minute wonder’, where a problem disappears within minutes, occasionally seconds.
More complex difficulties usually require more persistence, such as depression, serious illness, addictions, trauma, etc. Yet results are typically faster than with traditional methods.
‘Does EFT work on … ?’
EFT has potential to help with just about emotional or physical ailment, but there is no guarantee.
The catchword is ‘Try it and see’. The success rate is so high that you might as well. (You can read a multitude of personal case reports on the world centre EFT website www.eftuniverse.com )
If you don’t succeed yourself, you may need EFT practitioner help.
Sometimes EFT has helped with conditions judged hopeless elsewhere.
How soon can I use it?
Straight after one private session, or one EFT workshop, you’ll be able to use basic EFT on any number of personal difficulties.
Beginners typically START with a success rate of 50% (Experienced practitioners achieve a success rate over 90%.)
Can there be any harmful effects from EFT?
The process is harmless. All you are doing is balancing your energy system. Strangely — this results in the problematic emotion, physical sensation or belief reducing, often to nothing.
No negative effects have been reported. (‘Tapping’ on yourself means to tap firmly but lightly. You don’t need bruises!)
Where does EFT come from?
We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to U.S. Stanford-trained engineer Gary Craig (who is also a Neuro-Linguistic Programming Master).
Gary developed EFT in the 1990s out of 2 main sources:
Kinesiology, developed by chiropractor Dr. George Goodheart and psychiatrist Dr. John Diamond
Thought Field Therapy, developed by psychologist Dr. Roger Callahan
Since 1995 Gary Craig has made EFT freely available to the world on the Internet through his website, including a free EFT email newsletter.
This world centre EFT website and newsletter are now found at www.eftuniverse.com , in the care of science author Dr. Dawson Church, following Gary’s recent retirement.
What is this ‘meridian’ energy system?
This is the energy system that acupuncture and acupressure work through, as do other Eastern healing systems such as Chinese medicine. The Chinese have been facilitating healing via this system for more than 4,000 years. However, EFT extends the range of uses tremendously.
Western medicine does not yet acknowledge the invisible meridian system, in spite of Albert Einstein discovering a century ago that EVERYTHING in the universe is composed of energy, including us and our bodies.
But – particularly because of EFT results that Western science can’t yet explain – scientific studies are now being carried out across this new field of Energy Psychology Therapy
